DESCRIPTION:
Curtis & Dunning, Burlington, VT, 8 day weight driven brass movement gilt patent timepiece or banjo clock, c1822
CONDITION:
Gilt banjo case retains most of its original gilding with some loss on the molding and balls on the bottom bracket. The bottom right corner block has been replaced with a piece of pine. Original painted dial has been cleaned and the signature restored. A picture is included of the dial before the restoration. Throat glass appears original, but cracked. Original hands. Bottom tablet old and looks original. Movement is mounted to the case with a center screw. An example of the movement in this clock can be found in "Willard's Patent Time Pieces" by Paul J. Foley, pg.103. Clock lacks a finial. A knob for the lower door is missing. Ht 36"
